GordonKit YouTube Uploader

Last updated:

GordonKit YouTube Uploader is an internal tool used by GordonKit to authorize and upload educational videos to GordonKit YouTube channels using the YouTube Data API. This page is the application’s public information page; there is no uploader interface here, and nothing to sign up for or install.

What it does

GordonKit Math publishes short animations of its lessons to YouTube, one topic at a time. The uploader is the step that puts a finished animation on the channel: it attaches the title, description and tags that were read from the lesson page, uploads the video as a private draft, and sets the thumbnail.

It never makes a video public. Publishing is a decision a person makes afterwards, in YouTube Studio.

What it is allowed to access

The application requests two YouTube scopes: one to upload a video, and one to set that video’s thumbnail. Both apply only to the GordonKit channels it has been authorized for.

It reads no personal data, touches no other Google service, and has no access to any account other than the channel owner’s, who is the person who authorized it.

Who can authorize it

Only the people who run GordonKit. It is not a product offered to anyone else, and it has no sign-in flow for visitors: the consent screen is seen once per channel, by a maintainer, and the resulting credentials stay on the machine that runs the pipeline.

Those credentials are never stored in a public repository and are never sent to a third party.

Privacy

What this application accesses, and what the GordonKit sites store about a visitor, are both covered by one policy: Privacy
